If during a flight I decide to divert to an alternate what should I do so that FDvC picks up the correct destination?

Should I update and re-file my Flight-plan (i.e. change the destination) on FSINN, or should I just simply land at my alternate.

The reason I ask is I'm planning a flight to Paro in Bhutan in a B742F. In the real-world this is restricted to A319 and the occasional B737, but I want to attempt to land a 747 there. I'll probably carry enough fuel for 2 attempts and then I'll fly to an alternate. It's a visual only approach, so if I don't have the necessary visual references or can't manage my energy (i.e. height and speed) sufficiently I'll divert.

Ben,

I am not sure but I think the alternate is picked up automatically. I believe we are using the same info as Vatsim. I will find out for you to see if that is not the case. Good luck on your flight. If your flight does not pick up the alternate, just shoot COO/Admin an e-mail from the contact-us section on our website and he will fix it.
